Blizzard Announces World of Warcraft: Forever at BlizzCon 2026!

Blizzard has finally revealed what WoW players have been asking for for years.

Classic+ is real.

Officially announced at BlizzCon 2026, the new project is called World of Warcraft: Forever — a separate version of WoW built around the original Classic experience, but with an entirely new future.

Instead of simply progressing into The Burning Crusade, Wrath of the Lich King, and the expansions we already know, WoW: Forever will take Azeroth into a completely different timeline.

What is World of Warcraft: Forever?

WoW: Forever brings players back to the feeling of original World of Warcraft, with the level cap once again set to 60.

However, this is not another Vanilla relaunch.

Blizzard plans to expand Classic Azeroth with new stories, unexplored locations, new characters, and completely different events that never happened in Retail WoW.

The idea is simple:

start with Classic WoW — then take the world somewhere entirely new.

Tons of New Content

Blizzard has already revealed a huge amount of new content planned for WoW: Forever, including:

• 3 new zones

• More than 1,000 new quests

• 9 new dungeons

• 2 new raids

• Updated existing zones

• New race and class combinations

• A brand-new playable race: Skyborne Elves

The core Classic structure will remain familiar, but the world itself will continue to evolve with completely new content.

The announcement trailer also showed combinations that were impossible in original Classic WoW.

One of the biggest surprises was a Forsaken Paladin.

Players also spotted an Orc Mage, confirming that Blizzard is willing to break some of Classic’s original race and class restrictions.

These additions also appear to be connected to the new story, rather than simply being added as gameplay options.

A Classic Azeroth With an Unknown Future

This may be the most exciting part of WoW: Forever.

For the first time, Classic players will enter Azeroth without already knowing what comes next.

Blizzard is no longer required to follow the same timeline that eventually led into Burning Crusade and later expansions.

That opens the door for completely new:

raids, villains, wars, zones, storylines, characters, and even alternative versions of famous Warcraft events.

The reveal trailer already strongly suggests that familiar characters and locations may have very different futures in this timeline.

When Does WoW: Forever Release?

Blizzard announced that World of Warcraft: Forever launches on November 4, 2026.

Beta testing is also expected to begin shortly after the BlizzCon announcement.
